"Since the beginning of this year, we have increased the production and storage of solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR), and the cumulative output increased by 24.6% year-on-year before the shutdown and maintenance on May 15th." On June 11th, Ren Gangxing, head of the Market Research and Customer Management Group of Dushanzi Petrochemical Marketing and Transportation Department, told the reporter.

Solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber has the advantages of cold resistance, low heat generation, good color, low ash content and fast vulcanization speed, and is an indispensable rubber for producing high-performance tires. Among them, high-end solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber products such as end group functionalization, high styrene, high Mooney, etc. all relied on imports, resulting in domestic tires being 2 to 3 grades worse than foreign ones. In recent years, Dushanzi Petrochemical has successively overcome the key production technologies of high-end solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber through independent research and development, and developed a series of high-end solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber products.

In 2021, Dushanzi Petrochemical independently designed the in-situ preparation reactor of functionalized initiator, successfully produced the single-ended functionalized SSBR72612F product, and realized the large-scale production and application of functionalized solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber for the first time in China. The products are determined by the authoritative organization of the European Union as A/B grade of the European Union tire labeling law, reaching the international advanced level.

In 2023, Dushanzi Petrochemical started the construction of "product giant", formulated a special plan, and successfully developed new products such as SSBR3840TH series of tire tread rubber and SSBR4630, a high-end transparent sole material. In that year, it completed and put into operation a batch production line of 25,000 tons/year of functionalized solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber. Successfully produced double-ended functionalized products SSBR2055DF1 and SSBR2858DF, independently developed SSBR2055DF2 according to market demand, and achieved new breakthroughs in the field of domestic high-performance rubber materials. This means that Dushanzi Petrochemical has mastered the production technology of double-ended functionalized solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber and has become the only enterprise in China that can continuously and stably produce double-ended functionalized solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber products.

At present, Dushanzi Petrochemical has obtained 21 patents for various technical inventions of solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber, which was rated as the scientific and technological innovation achievement of central enterprises by the State Council State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. The products have reached the international advanced level, and have been entered into the purchasing lists of many well-known tire enterprises, realizing the independent control of key core basic materials used in the tire industry, and fully supporting the industrial upgrading of domestic tire enterprises and the high-quality development of domestic tires.
